What is Motherboard



A motherboard, also known as a mainboard or system board, is the primary circuit board that connects and allows communication between various components of a computer system. It serves as a platform for all other hardware components to be connected and interact with each other. The motherboard houses critical components such as the central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), storage drives, input/output (I/O) ports, and expansion slots. It also includes BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) firmware that initializes and controls the basic operations of the computer system when it is powered on. In essence, the motherboard acts as the central nervous system of the computer, facilitating data transfer and coordination between different hardware components to enable the overall functioning of the system.
